It's the Japanese character, Domo-Kun, in a box. I made this in Blender3D, and rendered with the BI.
It used Approximate Ambient Occlusion.
I tried tho get a fuzzy appearance on the fur, but couldn't with the particle system, so I just used a small bumpy texture.
